Change starts now! Together, we're building a better future for Burnley.
Thank you for placing your trust in me to represent our community at Lancashire County Council. I am committed to working hard every day to make Burnley a better, safer, and stronger place for everyone. This is only the beginning — and I look forward to building our future, together.
I make this statement in regards to misleading and manipulative news which has been circulating online, about “banning free mixing in all public spaces”, let me be absolutley clear, I deny saying that and I do not support such a view.
During an interview, I was asked about local issues brought to my attention whilst out canvassing. I spoke specifically about one community Centre – The Chai Centre – and how it used to offer valuable services like pregnancy support groups, female-only gym sessions, and women’s wellbeing discussions. Many local women told me they’d like the female-only gym to be brought back so they can prioritise their health in a comfortable environment.
At one point, the reporter asked something along the lines of "public spaces too?" - to which i clearly said no. I made it very clear that it is not possible, realistic or right to suggest ending free mixing in all public spaces.
My background is that I was born and raised in Burnley. I attended a local primary school, which is mixed, and later attended a Roman Catholic high school and college. I’ve grown up with diversity and inclusion and fully support freedom of choice and shared values. We must not let it overshadow the day-to-day challenges people in Burnley face—like healthcare, education, public transport, housing, and the environment. I stand for my constituents in Burnley, to make sure every issue is heard and addressed. I remain committed to honest, inclusive, and balanced representation for all the people of our town.

It was a pleasure to be out in Brunshaw ward today alongside the amazing and inspiring Cllr Christine Sollis and Cllr Afrasiab Anwar MBE.
A big thank you to the local residents who came out to speak with us. We discussed and logged concerns around disability ramps, parking problems, unsavoury activity hotspots, drug dealing, crime, poor road markings, dangerous junctions, resurfacing needs, speeding, and enforcement areas.
It was fantastic to see residents speaking up and engaging with us, and also reassuring to see some positive progress already made, such as the resurfaced roads on Brunshaw Avenue and the newly painted markings.
Later in the day, we continued our walk in the Daneshouse and Stoneyholme wards, specifically around Devonshire Road, where we encountered many of the same issues, showing just how vital it is that we keep listening and working together to tackle these concerns across our communities.
I’m pleased to share that road markings and junction lines have been freshly completed just days after my request to Lancashire County Council. A big thank you to the Highway team for their swift and professional response! As your County Councillor, the safety of our community is my top priority. Clearly visible road markings are essential — they guide drivers, protect pedestrians, and provide vital safety for children and wheelchair users alike.
My dedicated team is working tirelessly, and you’ll see more positive improvements across our area in the coming days. Together, we’re creating safer streets and a stronger community.
It was great to hold a joint councillor surgery with my fellow councillors this week, A big thank you to all the residents who came along. It was a pleasure to meet you, listen to your concerns, and hear your ideas on how we can make Burnley an even better place to live.
Later, during a ward walk, I noticed several serious safety issues that need urgent attention. Busy junctions on Norman Street, Saxon Street, Dane Street, Cronkshaw Street, and nearby areas have no road markings, making them very dangerous for both drivers and pedestrians — especially young children. We also came across potholes and uneven crossings that are causing difficulties for people trying to cross safely.
Similar problems were spotted on James Street and the surrounding roads.
I’ve reported all of these issues to Lancashire County Council and will be following up to make sure they are fixed as soon as possible.
If you spot anything else or have ideas for improvements in your area, feel free to get in touch. Together we can make a real difference

Road Repairs and Patching Work Completed on Grey Street, Milner Street & Hurtley Street
Great news for local residents – repair and patching work has now been completed on Grey Street/Milner Street and Hurtley Street!
This has been a long-standing issue raised by many, and we’re glad to see action finally taken to address the damaged road surfaces.
We’re also pleased to report that faded and missing road markings in the area are now being repainted. This is a different job altogether, but just as important for road safety and clarity.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to Lancashire County Council for listening to the community’s concerns, and to the Highways team for their continued hard work on the ground.
We’re committed to making sure our local streets are safer and better maintained — and we’ll keep working hard to push for further improvements
Great meeting today with Lancashire Combined Watch Forum Neighbourhood Watch, Mr Roger Baines MBE, and Mr Colm Flaherty to discuss how we can make our community safer. We’re working on plans to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour by bringing people together, organising events for young people and the elderly, clearing hotspot areas, and raising awareness. Roger’s dedication to public safety over the years is truly inspiring, and Colm’s passion for bringing people together really shone through. With community champions like them, we’re in strong hands. Our goal is simple: not just to reduce crime—but to remove it completely. CCTV and other long-term safety measures are also on the table.
Let’s keep working together for a stronger, safer neighbourhood. 📷
Great to see patching work begin on Francis Street. Thank you to Lancashire County Council for getting this moving!
This is just the start. We know many streets across our area still need urgent attention, and we’re not stopping here. We’ll keep following up every job until our roads get the improvements they deserve.
Let’s keep pushing for better!
I’ll be your voice at Lancashire County Council to fight for improved services and a stronger future for our town. My main goals include improving educational facilities and providing adequate support for children with special needs, and developing better school transportation systems. I will dedicate myself to repairing roads and developing public transportation systems, and creating better walking and cycling infrastructure.
I will advocate for senior citizens and disabled people while supporting children's services and local families. I will advocate for environmentally friendly policies which include improved waste management and street cleanliness, and increased protection of natural green areas. I will actively support both emergency planning and fire safety measures.
My main goal will be to listen to all concerns. I will collaborate with you to achieve our goals because I will represent Burnley's interests and maintain its respect.
Access to quality healthcare is essential for every Burnley resident, and I’m committed to ensuring that no one is left behind. I’ll work to strengthen our local health services, pushing for more GP appointments, shorter waiting times, and better support for mental health. By investing in community health programs, we can provide proactive care that keeps people healthy and reduces pressure on our hospitals. I’ll also advocate for better resources and facilities for our elderly and vulnerable residents, ensuring they receive the care and support they deserve. Together, we can build a healthier, more resilient Burnley, where everyone has the care they need when they need it.
Everyone in Burnley deserves to feel safe in their community, and I’m committed to making that a reality. I’ll work to strengthen local policing, ensuring faster response times and a visible presence in key areas, so people can feel secure in their neighborhoods. Tackling anti-social behavior and improving street lighting will help reduce crime and make our public spaces safer for all. I’ll also push for better support for victims of crime and stronger community partnerships to create a network of support that keeps Burnley safe. Together, we can build a town where safety is a priority, and everyone can thrive without fear.
Every individual in Burnley deserves access to high-quality education that prepares them for the future. I’ll work to ensure our schools are well-funded, with up-to-date resources and dedicated staff who can provide the best learning experience. By promoting stronger links between schools, parents, and local businesses, we can create opportunities for apprenticeships and vocational training, giving young people a range of pathways to succeed. I’ll also push for better support for children with special educational needs, ensuring every student gets the help they need to reach their full potential. Together, we can build an education system in Burnley where every student has the chance to thrive.
We value each and every single feedback request and recommendation.
